When congress reconvenes after the Thanksgiving holiday, they will be facing the task of passing a federal budget. Democrats are poised to push for continued subsidies for the affordable care which could be a sticking point for Republicans.
Nebraska U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts told News Talk WJAG republicans are looking to present an alternative health care plan. “What we are going to do is propose that instead of giving billions, 30 billion dollars last year we gave to insurance companies, give it to people instead to buy their own insurance,” Ricketts said. “So lets figure out a system to do that.”
Ricketts said he expects Democrats to put up a fight to preserve the Affordable Care Act, which Ricketts called a nearly 20- year failure that costs taxpayers billions of dollars.
