Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City will promote a healthy lifestyle through Ayurveda, alternative medicine, yoga, exercise, pranayama, and meditation for a healthy life.
The Metropolitan City has mentioned this in its policy and program for the fiscal year 2083/084. ‘While continuing the free ambulance service, a bike ambulance service will be launched considering the narrow roads within the metropolitan area and the increasing traffic,’ the policy and program states. ‘Dialysis service will be facilitated for the treatment of kidney disease of the metropolitan residents. Special programs related to maternal, child, and reproductive health services will be conducted. ‘Breastfeeding and care blocks’ service will be managed in public places.
Hospitals and health institutions operating within the metropolitan city will be regulated and monitored to encourage the provision of quality services. Also, the arrangement for providing 10 percent free treatment to the poor and helpless citizens will be strictly implemented.’
To provide quality and specialized health services to the metropolitan residents, the Metropolitan City has also prioritized building a Metropolitan Hospital, launching counseling services and a call center to reduce mental health problems rapidly arising due to lifestyle changes, pneumonia vaccination for senior citizens, health check-ups for metropolitan residents, and regular services in collaboration with health institutions and conducting emergency health camps.
