At their meeting this week, Loyalist Township council deferred a decision on a by-law amendment to rezone the The Windsor retirement residence in Amherstview so it can also house an alternative health facility (AHF.) However, the company is already running the AHF at the site.
Various revisions have been made to the proposal since the initial submission. An additional statutory public meeting was held this week to obtain input from the public. Main concerns raised included parking, and the safety of residents.
The latest submission is now proposing to provide 64 on site parking spaces, an increase of 13 spaces from what was initially proposed, and an increase of 30 spaces from what exists today.
As an AHF, the facility provides living accommodation for people requiring medical care on an interim basis following transfer from local area hospitals until their well-being can support return to their own primary residence.
