Greater Noida: General VK Singh, the minister of state for road transport and highways, on Sunday underlined the importance of alternative medicine for overall well-being. He was speaking after inaugurating the third edition of the Ayuryog Expo Arogya Fair at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.
“Ayurveda, yoga, unani, siddha and the homeopathy system of medicine look for the root cause of problems and not only the symptoms. It is important that various systems of medicines are promoted and popularised. Each system has its own advantage,” said Singh. The three-day event from September 25 aims to connect natural health and wellness experts from across the world. It is being organised by the Centre in association with the state government and the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). The fair boasts of 70 exhibitors, more than 40,000 online delegates, over 15 sessions and at last 1 lakh visitors.
On the inaugural day, senior ayurvedic practitioner Devendra Triguna, who has received the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, cited the use of alternative healing. He said ayurveda had helped many people stay healthy during the subsequent waves of Covid. PK Pathak, special secretary in the ministry of ayush, also spoke of various guidelines issued by the government regarding the use of traditional medicine and the launch of the Ayush app during the pandemic.
