Sandra “Sandy” Bidwell
Sandra “Sandy” Bidwell, 72, of Pueblo West, Colo., left this world to be reunited with loved ones. She passed peacefully in the early hours of Sept. 9, 2021. Born in Dallas, Texas to James and Mary Reynolds, Sandy spent her adolescence in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. Sandra graduated in 1971 from Texas Women’s University. Shortly after graduation, she was married to Ron Bidwell, a fellow Oak Cliff kid. She began her career in nursing at Parkland Hospital, a county hospital in Dallas, Texas. She developed a strong stomach assisting trauma and doctors in the emergency room. She used her skill and her love of people to excel as a nurse specializing in home health and wound care in a burn trauma unit later in her career. Ron and Sandy Bidwell first moved to Oklahoma City where she served as head nurse at Mercy Hospital. In 1978, Ron and Sandy moved to Pueblo, Colo., where they raised three children, Shawn, Aaron and Katie. Her loving and generous spirit also blessed several “bonus” children who were also impacted by her motherly advice and wisdom. Sandra developed a love of crocheting in her retirement years. Every year for birthdays and Christmas her family could expect a handmade crocheted present. It wasn’t long until Sandy was crocheting receiving blankets and beanies for the newborn babies at Parkview Hospital. This tradition began when Sandy was a patient herself, fighting one of her numerous health conditions. Sandra not only identified but lived as an example of a God-loving Christian woman. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, James; and her mother, Mary. She is survived by her husband, Ron; her three children, Shawn, Aaron (Carolyn) and Katie (Mike); her brothers, Joe (Pam) and Andy; and her eleven grandchildren that had a very special place in her heart, Adreena, Austin, Bryce, Zennin, Taylor, Conner, Kendrick, Daxten, Parker, Arlo and baby Wellesley that is to be born in the coming month. Her celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sept. 25, 2021, at Central Christian Church, 1902 N Hudson Ave, Pueblo, CO 81001. Please come out and celebrate with us.
