“The pandemic may have put a pause on all gym goers but has not stopped me from working out every day. I built a workout routine that I can easily do at home. It is really important to have a proper exercise routine,” says Nair. He credits regular workouts as his remedy for stress and anxiety, saying it’s crucial for mental health. But meeting your gym buddies is an added bonus, which Nair missed out on due to the lockdown.
“I am looking forward to getting back to the gym, there is just something motivating about going to the gym and exercising with peers,” he adds.
Working out the work
Apart from working out, work also took up a bulk of the boss’s time. And working from home took some getting used to. “I faced initial hiccups in getting accustomed to work-from-home. However, we revamped internal processes and information infrastructure, strengthened data-driven management, and transformed the culture of both organisation and human resources. This move helped us digitally transform and adjust to the new normal,” says Nair.
And he swears by his noise-cancelling headphones. “The Bluetooth headphones help me with distractions and also means I can walk around freely during calls,” he says.
One hack he says helped him stay productive is having a schedule saying it’s crucial for any working professional. “List down all the important tasks and prioritize them, keep a buffer for things that come up throughout the day, like impromptu calls, meetings, etc. Make sure your schedule has time for your family and yourself as well,” advises Nair.
Just relax
Taking time out for downtime is important too. “WFH can change your 9-to-5 to a 24-hour job which is not good for your health and puts a bump in your family time. It is important to overcome tendencies that compromise work-life balance,” Nair adds.
Some of the things the boss does in his down time is catch up with colleagues. “I enjoy catching up with my team. Work-from-home has put a halt on our post-work team outings, a quick video call to catch up with my team lifts my spirit. Apart from working out, I also enjoy meditating every day to clear my head and start fresh,” he says.
A holiday is on Nair’s mind too and Kerala beckons him. “We had to put it on hold in 2020. Our next destination will be Kerala, we have a plan in progress and hope to make it happen soon,” he says.
