There’s a strong link between skin health and how we feel about ourselves. Improving our skin can significantly boost our self-esteem. However, achieving healthier, more radiant skin is. When it comes to achieving healthier skin, it’s all about making smart, sustainable changes.

Here are some of my top tips to help you kickstart your skincare routines:

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is one of the simplest yet most effective steps to healthier skin. Aim for at least eight glasses a day to keep your skin hydrated and refreshed.

Pro Tip: Personally, I always carry a Stanley Cup with me, consistently refilling it throughout the day. It has become such an essential accessory for me that my friends have even created custom “Nash Injections” name tags for the lid.

Maintain a Balanced Diet: Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help your skin glow from the inside out.

For glowing skin, Sarah Sawyer, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, recommends an anti-inflammatory diet, similar to the Mediterranean Diet plan, that prioritizes whole, plant-based foods alongside lean protein and healthy fats.

Sun Protection: 90% of skin aging is caused by the sun. Do not underestimate the power of a good sunscreen. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 every day, come rain or shine. It’s an absolute non-negotiable for safeguarding your skin from damaging UV rays.

Regular Exfoliation: Exfoliating once or twice a week can be a game-changer, unveiling brighter and smoother skin by removing dead cells that mask the natural glow of your skin.

For my clients, I recommend ZO® Dual Action Scrub, named one of the 25 Best Facial Scrubs and Exfoliators for Glowing Skin by Reader’s Digest, and ZO® Exfoliating Polish, named one of the 6 Best Face Scrubs to Exfoliate Your Way to Smooth Skin by Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab.

Daily Moisturization: Keep your skin’s moisture levels in check by moisturizing every morning and evening. This helps maintain the essential skin barrier while preventing over-drying and irritation.

My personal favorites? The combination of ZO® Daily Power Defense and ZO® Illuminating AOX Serum is a staple in my clients’ skincare regimens. Rich in antioxidants, specialized enzymes, plant stem cells, and weightless barrier-builders, these innovative products strengthen the skin barrier to withstand the impact of aging and result in skin that is healthfully hydrated, luminous, calm, and recharged.

Choose Skin-Friendly Products: Your skin is unique and deserves specially tailored care. Opt for products without harsh chemicals that are suited for your skin type. Learn about your skin type to make smart skin care product choices.

Regular Facials: Elevate your skincare routine to the next level by integrating professional treatments such as facials or chemical peels. This approach ensures not only routine care but also addresses specific skin issues with targeted precision, promoting optimal skin health and radiance.

Remember, Consistency is Key: The most crucial aspect of any skincare journey is consistency. A regular skincare routine, no matter how simple, can lead to significant improvements in skin health with time.

Scientific studies have even shown that routine skincare rituals can lower your stress levels. One study conducted by Rodan + Fields’ founders, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, revealed an 83% decrease in cortisol levels (stress hormone) among participants with consistent skincare routines. 76% of participants reported feeling more confident taking selfies – many even reported feeling confident in wearing less makeup saying their “skin looks as good as it feels.”

Incorporating Medical Spa Treatments

While at-home care is an essential part of any skincare routine, adding professional treatments into the mix can truly take your skin to the next level. Medspa treatments, administered by licensed and trained professionals, can offer a range of benefits, from reducing fine lines and wrinkles to improving skin texture and tone.

Your skin is one-of-a-kind, and it deserves a customized skincare routine tailored to its specific needs. Consult with an expert to discover the ideal skincare protocol designed just for you.

Remember, the journey to beautiful and healthy skin is yours and exclusively yours. It’s unique, just like you. Let this be the year of revelation, the year where you discover the true potential of your skin and the immense boost of confidence that comes along with it.
